PANJIM: The Goa Medical College Friday said that National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate (NEET PG) merit students were permitted to continue their studies in their respective courses ~ MD, MS or Diploma, while in the case of the MBBS merit students who are admitted after the NEET students were removed, status quo is to be maintained until further orders, as directed by the Supreme Court.
The issue of admissions to the NEET merit students will be decided as per the directions of the Supreme Court in the above mentioned Writ Petition,” says the press note issued by Director of Information & Publicity Swapnil Naik.
The NEET PG students had approached the Apex court after they were replaced by students from the MBBS merit, subsequent to earlier SC order scraping NEET.
When they appealed against this, the court reportedly said that they should be allowed to continue and called the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council to appear before it next Tuesday.
As there are some double entries, the total seats this time should be around 60 to 70 as against the annual intake of about 85.
