Neglect of Fire Safety Measures and Building Maintenance Raise Concerns at South Goa Collector’s Office

Margao: The South Goa Collector’s office is currently grappling with significant safety concerns, primarily centered around fire safety and building maintenance. Alarming issues regarding the fire safety infrastructure have been brought to light, where the fire extinguisher, scheduled for refilling on July 23, remains unattended, despite it being October 17. The non-operational fire alert system adds to the fire safety apprehensions, further exacerbated by the absence of LED lighting in the control room for the past six months. The status of the CCTV cameras within the collector’s office also remains uncertain, casting doubt on surveillance and security.

Most concerning is that these issues persist within an environment where disaster management operations are coordinated. Instances of ceiling damage and the perilous state of the gentlemen’s restroom, where ceiling sections could potentially fall, underscore the overarching issue of negligence in maintaining this vital government building.

The South Goa Collector’s office is responsible for numerous critical functions, and these safety concerns not only risk operational disruptions but also pose a serious threat to the well-being of employees and visitors to the premises. Immediate attention and remedial actions are warranted to address the mounting issues related to fire safety and building maintenance in this government office.
