Neighbours exchange blows over property dispute in Sada

VASCO: Property disputes led to a free-for-all between two families from Headland Sada on Tuesday, and then to a cross-complaint, in which Mormugao police booked several people for assault, outraging modesty and verbal abuse.

The clashing neighbours also threatened each others with dire consequences.
According to Mormugao police, the neighbours got into an argument first and then assaulted each other. Members from both families were injured.
“Umesh Khorjuvekar first complained that Sada Naik and his wife abused him and Umesh’s wife in a filthy language, assaulted his wife with stones and a wooden stick. When the complainant came to the rescue of his wife, both the accused assaulted him with stones and stick. Umesh also accused Naik of grabbing his wife, damaging her mangalsutra, thereby outraged her modesty, and then threatening them with dire consequences,” said police.
Naik later filed a cross-complaint against Umesh and five others. “Naik complained that six persons criminally trespassed into his compound, where they abused him and his wife in filthy languages and assaulted his wife with their fists.” said the police.
The continued, “Naik also said that Umesh caught hold the complaint’s wife and damaged her mangalsutra, thereby outraged her modesty. Later two more persons entered the complainant’s house, pulled him outside and assaulted him with fists and a wooden stick. He was bleeding and his gold chain got damaged. They further threatened him with dire consequences.”
Mormugao police have registered a case against the clashing neighbours and others involved in the cross-complaint and are further investigating the case.
