MARGAO: On receiving a notice in connection with the Nuvem incident, Aam Admi Party’s (AAP) State Convenor Rahul Mhambrey visited the Maina-Curtorim Police Station, on Saturday.

“Even though I have not killed or robbed anyone, I do not understand why the police sent me a notice and called me here,” he said.

Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa, who quit Congress and joined BJP, has accused AAP Vice-President Adv Pratima Coutinho and 100 others violating the curfew during the COVID-19 pandemic period by visiting the MLA’s house to give the cake. Mhambrey was called to the police station in this connection.

Police Inspector Shivram Vaigankar recorded his statement.

Mhambrey told the police that the AAP activists were not responsible for the incident that took place at the MLA’s house.

He strongly replied to this shameful act by the BJP government stating that “AAP cannot be intimidated or stifled like the Congress. BJP’s intimidation tactics will not work on our party. AAP is the only party that can take on BJP and will stand for Goans. Today, other than AAP, there is no Opposition in State and the Goans have only AAP which will fight for their demands and rights.”

“Chief Minister Pramod Sawant under the guidance of his party leaders in Delhi is using various kinds of tactics and dirty politics to pressurise and suppress the AAP, who is reaching out to all the Goans during these difficult times and also representing their voices when no one else is,” said Mhambrey.

“It’s unfortunate that the Chief Minister who is also Home Minister instead of tackling the crime situation in the State is now busy stifling the voice of AAP that represents the people of Goa. The work of AAP in State during the COVID-19 pandemic has rattled the BJP government in the State. The mega announcement by AAP National Convenor and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal of electricity free up to 300 units and uninterrupted 24×7 power supply for Goans has sent a shockwave to the BJP government,” he added.
