PANJIM: After partially introducing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, at the ‘foundation stage’ – which includes three years of pre-primary school from the ongoing Academic Year 2022-23, the Goa government is set to introduce the policy in higher education, including professional colleges from the next academic term.
The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday chaired a crucial meeting with the officials of the Directorate of Higher Education, who made a detailed presentation on way forward for the implementation of NEP at the higher education level.
The Task Force, constituted to prepare a road map for NEP implementation in higher education submitted its report to the DHE Director IAS Prasad Lolyekar. On Monday, the presentation was held based on the task force committee report.
Speaking to media persons post-meeting, Sawant said that next year, NEP will be implemented at the higher education level.
Meanwhile, speaking to Herald, Task Force in charge Laxmikant Parsekar said that the government lacks data on infrastructure, manpower, rules and regulations, and student difficulties and hence it is not easy to implement NEP so soon. “Goa is among those few States who has failed to implement NEP so far,” he said.
