PANJIM: A two-wheeler rider thwarted a potential sexual assault on a married woman at Dona Paula, late Monday night
The Panjim police have arrested a Nepali youth in this connection, for allegedly molesting a domestic help at La Marvel Colony, Dona Paula.
The accused identified as Basant Gharti (23) is booked under sections 354 (molestation) and 427 (mischief causing damage to property above Rs 50) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, the accused who is known to the victim, dragged her, and tried to disrobe her under the cover of darkness, near La Marvel colony entrance. The victim, in her mid 20s also hails from Nepal and is married.
“When she raised an alarm a motorcyclist who was passing flashed his vehicle’s headlight, which deterred the assailant from the act and made him to flee,” police informed. Gharti was later picked up from Dona Paula soon after the complaint was lodged.
