According to Porvorim police, the incident took place at about 3 pm, when D Naik was upset after his nephew arrived at his house in an inebriated condition and claimed that his drinking habits had tarnished the reputation of the family.
The nephew took offence at his uncle’s rebuke and entered into an argument with him. In a fit of anger, the nephew allegedly stabbed his uncle on his chest with a pair of scissors, grievously injuring him, Porvorim police said.
Naik’s other nephew rushed him to the Candolim Primary Health Centre, where he died of injuries later in the evening.
Police has registered an offence under Sec 302 IPC against the nephew, who is absconding, and PI Brandon D’Souza is investigating.
