VAGATOR: Having tasted no success in putting a full stop to the noise pollution despite several complaints to the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the Anjuna Police, the residents of Vagator complain that the nerve-racking music from the clubs in Vagator areas continues undeterred even after police complaints and action.

Their children, who are preparing for exams and the senior citizens trying to live in peace, are facing a harrowing time due to loud music played by these clubs, the locals said.

The villagers claimed that at least 23 clubs in Vagator are playing extremely loud music after 10 pm.

It continues till the next morning, they said.

The villagers have urged the police and the GSPCB to monitor the decibel levels of the erring clubs.

The villagers have sought action against their grievances by taking prompt and strict action against all the erring clubs mentioned in the complaint.

Ravi Harmalkar from Ozran, Vagator said, “Our children had a harrowing time trying to concentrate on studies during the midterm exams that concluded recently. Senior citizens in the village are facing health problems and loss of sleep due to sound pollution. Still, our government and law enforcement agencies are not waking up.”

He added “Since December I’ve been calling the police, but not once have they responded. This only proves that they are hand-in-glove with noise violators.”

He was emphatic when he said, “This only proves that they are hand-in-glove. There have been so many instances wherein I complained to the police standing at the beach areas. They said they will take action, but no action was taken,” he said.
