The Maina Curtorim police have got a breakthrough in the Nessai murder case when the police succeeded in identifying the headless body on Friday.
Though police officials were tightlipped about the case, sources in the know informed that the deceased hails from Bellary in Karnataka.
A police officer in the know informed that the identification of the deceased will now help in unraveling the mystery behind the brutal murder of the middle-aged medium built man.
“We have succeeded in our first mission in identifying the dead man. Our information reveals that the deceased is a native of Bellary-Karnataka”, informed a police officer.
The headless body of the deceased was found dumped along a roadside at Nessai earlier this week. Post mortem examination of the body revealed that the killers had inflicted as many as 41 injures on the deceased, resulting in his death.
The killers had severed his head from the body and had taken away the head in a bid to destroy evidence and prevent the men-in-uniform from identifying the deceased.
Maina Curtorim PI Sidhant Shirodkar is investigating the case under the supervision of DySP Umesh Gaonkar.
