PANJIM: After eight days of a fast-unto-death, the Nestle Workers’ Union (Goa) has decided to intensify the strike. Addressing the media on Monday, Union leader Ajeetsing Rane has warned the government of consequence.
“The workers will continue their strike till the government gives them justice. If the health condition of any striking worker deteriorates, government will be held responsible,” Rane said.
Nestle India Ltd, which has its manufacturing plant at Bicholim, had laid off over 500 contract workers after the ban imposed in June. The jobless workers, led by Rane are currently on a hunger strike demanding back their jobs.
