PANJIM: Deputy Sapanch of Netravali Village Panchayat and former Pradesh Kissan Congress Convenor Abhijit Dessai joined the Aam Aadmi Party AAP, on Friday.
Along with him, three other panchas Prakash Bhagat, Santosh Naik and Vithal Gaonkar also joined. Dessai had resigned from primary membership this morning and stated that he is going to work for the future of Goa under the leadership of AAP.
The AAP has been growing aggressively in Goa unlike the other parties who are hogging headlines due to infighting. The party has been consistently growing by its outreach to Goans on issues that actually impact Goenkars, says a press release issued by the party.
While joining AAP, Dessai stated how he was impressed by Arvind Kejriwal’s first two promises regarding electricity and jobs.
He stated that AAP was genuinely working on issues impacting Goenkars.
“While AAP has fulfilled all its promises under the Kejriwal Sarkar, Sanguem locals have been made to languish for their basic needs no matter if it is the BJP or if it is the Congress in power,” he added.
“Today the youth of Sanguem are asking for jobs but no one has worked to provide them with employment. Many who had jobs have lost them and need support. Only Arvind Kejriwal has addressed this issue by not only guaranteeing jobs but also support to youth while they are unemployed,” said Dessai.
Slamming the Congress, Dessai said, “Despite having a mandate the Congress was unable to form a government. MLA after MLA has been sold to the BJP. What hope is there now in the Congress?”
“Arvind Kejriwal has always said ‘joh main Kehta hoon, woh karta hoon’, it is this attitude and truth that has won hearts in Goa and attracted people to join the party like Dessai,” said Adv Pratima Coutinho, AAP Goa Vice President.
“AAP has grown as the only alternative to the BJP and Congress. Today Goans across the State know that AAP is the only party that can save Goa,” AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre said.
