SANGUEM: Sarpanch of Netravali Village Panchayat Rajani Gaonkar was voted out of office following a No Confidence Motion filed by five out of total seven panchayat members, recently.
At the special meeting held at the panchayat office and presided by Sushant Naik from BDO Office Sanguem in the presence of Panchayat Secretary BM Tilve, five panchayat members Abhijit Dessai, Vittal Gaonkar, Prakash Bhagat, Santosh Naik and Archana Gaonkar voted in favour of the motion while ousted Sarpanch Rajani Gaonkar and Antonia Francisco Costa remained absent for the meeting. Immediately after the meeting, Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Dessai was appointed as acting Sarpanch.
Incidentally, there is a disqualification petition filed against the Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Dessai and former Sarpanch Rajani Gaonkar is also pending for hearing before Supreme Court.
The petition is filed by Rakhi Prabhudessai challenging the order passed by High Court Goa Bench which has held the Sarpanch Rajani Gaonkar and Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Dessai to continue to hold the post of Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch respectively.
The petition is filed by Prabhudessai seeking disqualification of the duo allegedly for misappropriation of panchayat funds.
