SANGUEM: Netravali Village Panchayat is reportedly in the process of forwarding a copy of the letter written by a student along with the panchayat resolution to the Prime Minister’s Office and the President of India.

It may be recalled that on Saturday, Vaibhavi Parab, a student had written a letter to the panchayat complaining of the problems faced by the students community in the village in attending online classes due to the bad internet connectivity. In fact, in some internal wards of the panchayat internet connectivity is non-existent.

While the government had announced to conduct online classes for all the students due to the coronavirus pandemic, no study is conducted over the availability of internet services in the hinterland areas and neither has any provision been made till date to provide internet connectivity to areas which lack a stable connectivity for the students to have access to their classes.

Irked with the poor internet connectivity and the efforts students have to put in order to identify hot spots for getting net connectivity, Vaibhavi had dashed a letter to the panchayat seeking some recourse to the problems faced by the students as they are missing their classes.

The letter is reportedly taken up by the panchayat seriously as it is not only the students but also the teachers residing in the village who have face similar problems.

Deputy Sarpanch Abhinjit Dessai said the matter is under discussion of the panchayat and the same will be discussed at length at the panchayat meeting to be held soon.

Dessai said, “The panchayat has decided to forward a copy of the letter to the Prime Minister’s Office and the President of India’s office along with the copy of the panchayat resolution.”

A large number of students from the village are forced to walk alongside the road in the village with books and other study material in their hand to search for hot spots for internet connectivity. Except for BSNL no other internet service providers have towers in Netravali village because of its remote location.
