New Banastarim market complex opens today

PONDA: The long awaited new Banastarim market complex well known for being a traditional market will be inaugurated on Thursday, August 24. 

The Banastarim market is one of the most visited markets by people from across the State.   Spearheaded by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, the project will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. 

The project, valued at Rs 17.80 crore, has received funding of Rs 12.32 crore from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, New Delhi.

The market complex has a basement parking level, a bustling ground floor, an elevated first floor, and a well-appointed second floor. A dedicated sewage treatment plant has been established to efficiently manage waste generated by the complex.

The complex houses a total of 60 shops. The space provides separate sections for vendors offering vegetables, fish and meat. 

Another highlight is the inclusion of a spacious community hall, with a seating capacity of up to 450 individuals.
