The school students had a Prabhat Pheri followed by placing of wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial and at the statue of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia. Students sang patriotic songs in Hindi, Konkani and Marathi.
Dayanand Kantak, freedom fighter from Margao shared the story of how the revolution started and came to be in 1946.
Avertano also promised a new Zuari bridge soon.
The Kranti Din Samiti held essay writing, patriotic songs singing and many other special programmes for the 600 school students who gathered for the function. Exhibition of more than 200 photos of freedom fighters and the war against the Portuguese was put up at the Azad Maidan by the Kranti Din SamitiSamiti.
