MAPUSA:  In a new twist to Siddhi Naik case, the victim’s father on Thursday filed a complaint at the Calangute Police Station suspecting foul play behind his daughter’s death.

Siddhi’s father Sudhir Naik said he filed the police complaint as he suspected foul play after going through his daughter’s postmortem report and seeing her photos which went viral on social media.

In his complaint, Sudhir said, “Earlier, I did not suspect foul play during the identification of Siddhi’s body at the hospital. However, after having a look at the photos which went viral on social media, I suspect foul play.”

He said, “In the photos which went viral on social media, Siddhi’s body is seen in a face down position. The postmortem report elucidated that the body was changed to face down position. This also means that body was not floating in water. It means that Siddhi’s body remained in face up position for first few hours of death and later it was changed to face down position by unknown person/s for more than once.”

Sudhir said, “The postmortem revealed that Siddhi’s stomach was empty which means that there was no presence of water in her. However, sand particles were found beyond the vocal cord, which indicate that Siddhi was not drowned in deep sea waters or else she would have gulped down the water as she did not know to swim.

He said, “The postmortem report mentions three bruises on Siddhi’s body. It is mentioned that these bruises were superficial and not deep.  Also, these are not scratches otherwise the report would have stated that they were caused to a person accidently by hitting the rocks while drowning.”

Sudhir said, “I admit that, I did not suspect any foul play behind the death of my daughter, till the time I saw the viral photos and read the postmortem report. Now, I have realised that there is foul play. Therefore, I have lodged a complaint that unknown person/s has/have murdered my daughter, Miss Siddhi Naik, by forcibly drowning her in shallow beach sea waters by means of holding her in such position to cover her mouth and nose till she died of drowning.”
