VASCO: Mainuddin Pathan (28) of New Vaddem was arrested by Vasco police on Thursday on charges of rape. Police produced the accused before the court which remanded him in police custody for twelve days.
Pathan was arrested following a complaint by a 20-year-old woman that between August and November 3, the accused was in a relationship with her and on the pretext of marrying her he allegedly forced her into sexual relationship.
Police said that besides allegedly exploiting the woman sexually, the accused also reportedly used her for flesh trade and also survived on the income of the commercial sexual activity. He even allegedly assaulted the woman when she refused to have sex with him.
Pathan is arrested under Sections 370, 376, 323, 506 of the IPC and Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act (ITPA).
