MARGAO: Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure that no untoward incident occurs in South Goa during the New Year’s Eve, said Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas.
In all 700 police personnel will be deployed on that day including 6 platoons of Indian Reserve Battalion having 25 personnel in each battalion.
Besides there will be patrolling done by 25 police control vans, 15 motorcycles and 17 police inspectors will be moving around in vans. The four Sub Divisional Police Officers at Margao, Vasco, Ponda and Quepem will be on duty from 6 pm to 4 am along with the SP.
Two jeeps of Drishti will be monitoring the situation at Colva beach while one jeep will be operating in Palolem. Besides six motorcycles will be patrolling the beach areas, said Gawas.
Disclosing that the police have identified Palolem, Benaulim, Colva and Bogmalo as the pressure points for New Year’s Eve, elaborate arrangements have been made at these places for parking of vehicles.
