New Year revelry ended in tragedy for two youngsters after they were killed in a road mishap at Caraswado on Wednesday night.
The deceased, who were the employees of a private bank, have been identified as Melbert Pinto (26) of Caraswado-Mapusa and Harsh Diukar (27) of Hubli.
According to Mapusa police, Pinto and Diukar were proceeding towards Bastora in a Swift car (GA-07-C-3981) to attend a New Year bash organized by the bank staff at about 11.45 pm. However on reaching Pedem, the car driven by Diukar rammed into a roadside tree seriously injuring the duo.
Pinto and Diukar sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to Asilo Hospital, where they were declared dead on admission.
PANJIM REPORTER ADDS: One Christopher George Peres, 46, died in fatal road accident on the New Year night, at Dona Paula.
According to the police, Christopher was returning home in his Maruti Alto no GA01/ R7882, after attending a party in a five-star hotel at Cidade de Goa when his vehicle was rammed into by a pickup (GA01/ R 7882) near the Dona Paula Circle.
The victim was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College, in EMRI 108, where he was declared brought dead.
