VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha opened the newly reconstructed RCC slab culvert at Ranale, near the railway crossing in the village of Arossim, for the public, recently.
This culvert was in a dilapidated condition and one could see the corroded iron rods beneath the culvert jutting out making the infrastructure unsafe for the public. The work has been done through PWD Roads Division, at a cost of Rs 6 lakh and has been tendered to M/s Marc Constructions.
Speaking on the occasion, Saldanha said that she is glad that finally the work on this culvert is completed and the people can now use this infrastructure thereby putting an end to the difficulties faced by them as they had to take a much longer route to reach their homes. The work was delayed by the unexpected lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
She also informed that there are two more culverts in the village of Cansaulim to be reconstructed, one near St Thomas Church and one at Murdi, for which the works have already been tendered and the work order will be issued shortly.
