MARGAO: A young couple from Nashik who came to Goa on a visit, attempted suicide by consuming poison in their guest house in Colva, allegedly because their families opposed their relationship.
The man, 21-year-old Kishor Aher died, while his 22-year-old wife, who survived the attempt, is undergoing treatment at the South Goa District Hospital, said the Colva police.
The police said that the couple had arrived in Goa by train and checked into the guest house on October 31. The couple had been in a relationship for the past few months and tried hard to convince their parents, who were opposed to their relationship, police said.
