PANJIM: The Osmania University Police has claimed that news of Edwin Nunes from Anjuna surrendering before the police is false and added that he is still at large.
Referring to a news appearing in a section of press, a police officer from Hyderabad informed that they are still looking out for Edwin, who is untraceable at the moment.
PI Ramesh Naik is the investigating officer in the drugs matter where Edwin Nunes and Steven Almeida, the owner of Hill Top Club, are accused. Nunes was running the Curlies Restaurant, where BJP leader Sonali Phogat was allegedly drugged and killed. The police have alleged that drugs were being in the restaurant.
The Telangana High Court had after hearing the anticipatory bail petition of Edwin Nunes on October 7, had rejected his plea. Edwin and Steve have been named as bulk drug suppliers from Goa in connection with case registered by the Osmania University Police Station, Hyderabad.
After being rejected bail by the Telangana High Court, Edwin had recently approached the Supreme Court seeking pre-arrest bail in the Hyderabad matter.
Meanwhile, Steven alias Steve Almeida has been granted conditional bail.
