FATORDA: FC Goa suffered their second successive defeat on Thursday and FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera felt his side ‘deserved a lot more’ against Chennaiyin FC.
“I sincerely think that we deserved a lot more today. I think football has been unjust with us today. Last week too we lost a game which was unfair,” complained Sergio.
FC Goa weren’t at their best in the first half, but changing ends, the home team displayed attacking prowess but were denied on couple of occasion by the frame.
“The team did everything they could in the second half. We had a lot of opportunities in the second half, some clear ones, but the ball didn’t go in. But I will remember the efforts of the team,” expressed Sergio.
Starting brightly in the league, Goa managed to collect just one point in their last four matches that took them to the sixth spot.
“We continue to depend on ourselves. We have 5 points less than Jamshedpur with one game in hand and we have to play against them as well,” said Sergio.
“This obviously is the last chance for us and we cannot make any mistakes henceforth. The next four games are like four finals for us,” said Sergio, claiming that his team is still on their own if they want to make it to the knock outs.
Manuel Lanzarote will miss the next match against Delhi Dynamos on Wednesday after the Spaniard received his fourth yellow card of the league.
“The first thing is that a player who already had three yellow cards shouldn’t have got himself a yellow card by talking to the referee. He basically got his way onto the book. It was a big error on the player’s part. We are playing a lot and we shouldn’t lose players on stupid things like these and this cannot be permitted.” lamented Sergio.
With Lanza out with suspension, Sergio will have to make changes to his squad.
“Obviously we’ll have to make changes. We have a training session tomorrow after which we will pick the best 11 to face Delhi Dynamos on February 21,” said Sergio.
