MARGAO: During the Postal Awareness Fortnight starting from October 1, GOACAN volunteers will visit the sub-post offices and branch post offices to note the facilities and services available and also identify the problems faced by the people.
GOACAN will also popularise the use of the Citizens Charter, the suggestion cum complaint book at these offices and the services available in the office.
People will be encouraged to fix letter boxes for delivery of letters in multi storied buildings besides using pin codes while addressing mail for faster delivery and also use postal stationary to keep with the standardisation of mail protocol.
While checking whether facilities recommended under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act is provided the volunteers will also promote the use of branch post offices specially amongst the senior citizens.
GOACAN will also strive to impress upon the Village Development Committees to include post offices and postal services in the Gram Panchayat Development Plan which is being prepared currently.
