VASCO: The National Green Tribunal has served a three-month ultimatum to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) to put its garbage treatment plant in order at Headland Sada. Speaking to Herald, former MMC chairperson Manish Arolkar said the council, during its meeting on Thursday, had deliberated on the notice served by NGT to clear the mounting garbage at Healand Sada, failing which MMC would be forced to shut down the plant. “MMC has directed the representative of the agency, which is managing recycling of garbage at Headland Sada, to give an undertaking that they will comply with the NGT order within three months, failing which the contract will be terminated,” said Arolkar.
