NIA raids teen student’s flat at Tisk-Usgao; mobile, gadgets seized

PONDA: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided an apartment situated at Tisk, Usgao in Ponda taluka and seized electronic gadgets including a cell a phone, SIM card and a pen drive belonging to a 14-year-old student. 

A four-member NIA team along with Ponda Police raided the rented room of an apartment in which the standard X student was staying and quizzed the student. The boy’s family hails from Uttar Pradesh and has been staying in the State for more than a decade. The boy’s father is working as a mechanic at Ponda.

The raid was in connection with a case registered in Jharkhand. The Instagram and Telegram account of the student, who was active on Instagram and Telegram have been blocked. The student has been asked to remain present at Ranchi, Jharkhand on September 22, for further investigation.

It is learnt that in July this year, the NIA had arrested a 19-year-youth from Jharkhand for his alleged links with the Islamic State (IS). 

The police said that the 14-year-old student was active on social media and he had recently travelled outside the State.
