In his complaint to the police, the victim Nasir Beig stated that the accused Sadiq Saleh (52) approached him in May and promised to make his (Nasir’s) son a part of the FC Goa team. Saleh also made an affidavit of having received the money, but the same couldn’t be registered with police. He was later advised to get another affidavit from Saleh mentioning the promise to get Nasir’s son a spot on the team. Nasir produced the new affidavit to Margao police, following which a case was made against Saleh.
Saleh was arrested in Panjim on Thursday.
