PANJIM: The Crime Branch of Goa Police arrested a 39-year-old Nigerian national for allegedly possessing drugs worth approximately Rs 85,000 in the international market.
According to the police, Crime Branch officials arrested Solomon Ubabuko Ugochukwu from Nigeria, and presently residing at Monte de Guirim, and seized a transparent auto press polythene packet containing white cocaine worth Rs 85,000 approximately in the international market, cash amounting to Rs 4,940 and a mobile phone, all valued Rs 1.05 lakh.
The team that conducted the raid was led by PI Dattaram V Raut and comprised PSI Girish Padloskar, Lady PSI Shital Naik, Head Constable Dinesh Pikulkar and constables Vinayak Sawant, Sandesh Kambli and Samiulla Makandar.
The raid was conducted on Monday, January 1 at T Junction Road leading to Mapusa Yard Gate adjacent to new KTC Bus stand, Mapusa.
The Crime Branch Police Station has registered a case against the accused under Section 21 (b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
PI Dattaram Raut is investigating the case under the supervision of DySP Suraj Halankar and overall supervision of SP (Crime Branch) Nidhin Valsan, IPS.
