DONA PAULA: People living in areas from NIO circle, Dona Paula to Raj Bhavan are hassled and inconvenienced over the ongoing road widening and concretization work. Already facing a legal battle over the digging work being carried out along the Miramar-Dona Paula road, the work still continues.
Presently the road stretch from Circle till NIO auditorium is been dug on the either side for widening while the existing road thereafter is being dug to concretize it, effectively blocking entire excess to Raj Bhavan and nearby colonies. The site at Raj Bhavan is also viewed as an ‘evening spot’ with many tourists and Panjimites frequenting to have glance of Panjim city from the top of hill, in the evening.
“The basic idea is to organize the services so that there will be no more digging. If there are any repairs required, all one will have to do is remove the pavers on the footpath and then put them back. Nobody should dig the road for the next fifty years,” an official attached with GSIDC said.
Rohan Khandeparkar, resident from the area said that the work has resulted into complete mess. “We agree that there is a need to have proper road but the same should be done without causing inconvenience to public. Also these being rainy days, people face more hardship,” he said.
