MARGAO: Fatorda Police on Monday registered two separate cases against nine persons for wrongful restraint and rioting.
All the accused have been asked to report to the Police station for the next 6 days.
In the rioting case that occurred at around 1 am on Monday near Datta Mandir at Gogol Housing Board, the five accused damaged three parked scooters including one belonging to 22-year-old complainant Kiran Naik.
The five accused who were arrested by the police are 24-year-old Jaffar Sayed, 27-year-old Bakal Shaikh, 28-year-old Salamat Shaikh and 32-year-old Saifulla Mulla all residents of Gogol Housing Board and 20-year-old Mujir Ahmed from Rumdamoll Housing Board.
All have been booked under Sections 143, 147, 148 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 149 of IPC.
In the other case that occurred at around 8.30 pm on Sunday night at the Bogdeshwar temple, 22-year-old Kiran Naik was wrongfully restrained, assaulted and insulted by Mayur Durbatkar, Vijai Naik, Sushant Borkar and Ketan Shah all residents of Gogol.
They have been booked under Sections 341, 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code read with section 34 of IPC peace.
The accused were released on bail by the courts and subsequently arrested under Section 151 for breaching peace. The SDM released them on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 each and directed them to report to Fatorda Police Station for the next six days.
