Nine succumb to Covid on Friday

Positivity rate drops to 37.42 per cent

PANJIM: Goa recorded nine COVID-19 deaths for the second consecutive day on Friday.

Since January 1, over the last 21 days, there have been 72 deaths as per the COVID-19 health bulletin released by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). 

The daily Covid positivity rate that was soaring above 40 per cent finally dropped down to 37.42 per cent on Friday.

Also 46 Covid affected persons were hospitalised while, 14 persons were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours. Also 2622 patients were advised home isolation.

The samples of 7129 were reported to have been tested as well. Also 2668 new cases of Coronavirus were reported during the past 24 hours. With the addition of these new cases, the cumulative number of infections in the State rose to 2,25,165 while the death toll increased to 3594.

A total of 3145 more recoveries were reported taking the total number of recovered cases in the State to 1,99,597. The recovery rate in the State currently stands at 88.64 per cent. Currently Goa houses 21,974 active COVID-19 cases.
