PERNEM: A meeting was held to explain what CRZ Notification 2011 and CZMP is all about to Calangute villagers at Calangute Panchayat on Saturday after a demand was made by the local body requesting to send an expert from Survey department to explain the same.
Accordingly a field surveyor Yashwant Bicholkar explained the CRZ notification 2011 and Coastal Zone Management Plan to villagers.
Initially, Sarpanch Antony Fernandez welcomed the villagers and further the Expert explained the villagers why government has come up with the CZMP.
While the plan was being explained, people noticed that many structures were not shown on the plan, reacting to which, villagers demanded that all the structures should be shown on the map.
Later the expert informed the villagers that they have 15 days time to give their suggestion and objection for the plan as the plan will be kept for display at the panchayat. The Villagers then demanded that the panchayat to hold a special gram sabha to discuss the subject give their suggestion and objections.
Meanwhile, the panchayat has not decided whether to hold special gram sabha or not.
