Mapusa: Nityanand Kandolkar was elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Colvale Village Panchayat on Friday.
In a special meeting convened at the panchayat office, after following the election process, presiding officer Manohar Parwar declared Kandolkar as the new sarpanch of Colvale panchayat.
Kandolkar’s nomination was proposed by Deputy Sarpanch Ajakshya Phadte and seconded by Radhika Bandekar. During the meeting five panchayat members including Deputy Sarpanch Ajakshya Phadte, Michael Fernandes, Radhika Bandekar and Sheetal Chodankar were present.
It may be recalled that former Sarpanch Babani Salgaonkar was voted out by 5- 0 votes on June 7.
