MARGAO: Niz Goenkar Muslims Association on Tuesday strongly condemned the act of government with regard to the Bhumiputra Bill passed in a recently concluded assembly session that too without discussion and deliberations. President of Niz Goencar Muslims Association, Furkhan Khan said that they will not hesitate to approach the judiciary if required.
Association has requested the Governor not to give his assent for this Bill and they will be submitting the memorandum to Governor in the next few days.
“This Bill is nothing but an election gimmick just to create a vote bank, framed without applying proper mind, if not withdrawn forthwith, the consequences will be so much so that the detrimental result will be understood in the near future, on the contrary, the Niz Goenkars will be deprived and will not benefit as such there are bright chances of Goan landlords, house owners getting blackmailed,” he claimed.
He appealed to Niz Goenkar’s to come to the forefront to oppose it, tooth and nail as he believe that the Bill would open up massive scope for land grabs across the State.
He argued that original Goans are still struggling to get their right to the land, and instead of making laws to protect the Goans the government is working hard to save-guard the outsiders.
“It’s like ‘Bhumi’ of Goa and ‘Putra’ from the outsider. This is the right time for all Goans to come together and oppose the Bill. What is the base of this Bill? But one thing is sure that the government has more concern about the outsiders rather than Goans. The government should tell in what way this Bill will benefit the Goans,” he said.
He further said, “This government has forced the people of Goan to come on streets for the survival and now creating more problems and hardships bypassing the Bhumiputr Bill”, he alleged.
