PANJIM: There are no alarming reports from the medical examination on FORCE organising secretary Savio Lopes who is on the sixth day of his indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan.
On Thursday, doctors from the govt health services examined Lopes and took blood and urine samples. The reports reveal no alarming situation. On Saturday Lopes was given some medication.
FORCE spokesperson Sintia Fernandes said, “Today at 11.30 am, a team of doctors examined Savio and gave him some tablets. Today’s report will be submitted to government; meanwhile the previous report states he is normal.”
A day after Goa was paralysed for an hour by parents and led to a stormy debate in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, Lopes continues to lie on the platform of Azad Maidan demanding that the bill incorporating the Medium of Instruction (MoI) policy be passed in the ongoing Assembly session.
Parents from different parts of Goa have joined Lopes in a chain hunger strike and every morning more than 200 parents gather at Azad Maidan shouting slogans and singing anti-government songs. As the day ends, Lopes has about 20 to 25 parents keeping him company at night till the next morning.
