VASCO: Barely few days before the panchayat polls rumours are doing the rounds that the state government would propose bifurcation of Sancoale Panchayat into two different Panchayat bodies, including Sancoale and Zuarinagar. Similarly, government would also demolish the houses of Zuarinagar slum dwellers after the poll process started doing the rounds since last few days in Sancoale, leaving the villagers in fear.
Putting such rumours to the rest, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has clarified that there is no such proposal for bifurcation of Sancoale Panchayat into two different Panchayat bodies and that state government has no intentions of demolishing the structures owned by slum dwellers at Zuarinagar.
“I was shocked to hear that few political leaders with their evil intentions have been spreading rumours and misleading the people only to create fear in the minds of the villagers from Sancoale Village. I want to clarify that till date there is no proposal for the bifurcation of Sancoale Panchayat into two different Panchayats as claimed by few local leaders who only want to win elections by spreading fake rumours and misleading them. Zuarinagar and Sancoale are both part of Sancoale Panchayat and will remain under Sancoale,” Saldanha said.
She further added that “Also there are rumours about government intending to demolish all the houses owned by the poor slum dwellers. This is also fake and misleading information as firstly the property on which these houses are built are not owned by the government, so why would government interfere in razing these houses. In fact, government wants to provide decent housing to the people of Zuarinagar and that too only to those who are willing to take such facility” she said.
Saldanha appealed to the voters to be wise enough and not fall prey to such rumours as the same are spread by vested elements only to win the Panchayat poll.
