PANJIM: The crucial phase of the Mhadei hearings begins on Tuesday, however, there is no certainty whether Assistant Solicitor General of India Atmaram Nadkarni will appear for Goa or not.
Nadkarni, the former Advocate General of Goa, was recently appointed ASG. Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had said that though Nadkarni will be in Delhi he will continue to represent the State in important matters like Mhadei and other matters. Parsekar had said that PM Narendra Modi had orally agreed to this request.
Sources said there is no written permission received so far allowing Nadkarni to represent Goa.
However, as the Mhadei tribunal hearings begin on Tuesday, there is no clarity on whether Nadkarni will represent the State or not. Efforts to contact Parsekar and Nadkarni proved futile.
