MARGAO: Returning officer for South Goa Lok Sabha constituency Mihir Vardan on Monday said the election authorities will certainly take serious note of any complaint alleging that the ruling party is intimidating voters with threats to stop benefits of various government schemes if they fail to vote for the BJP.
“So far, we have not received any complaint against the ruling party or the government. But we will definitely view such a complaint, if made in writing, as it amounts to intimidation”, Vardhan said, while saying that no such complaint has been received from anyone till date.
He said the election authorities have so far received around 31 complaints, of which 27 have been disposed, while an FIR is registered vis-a-vis violation of sound pollution norms.
He said the election monitoring committee is investigating into one case of paid news.
Replying to a question, he said around 22 micro-observers will be deputed under the election observers to observe proceedings in certain polling booths.
