Nearly two weeks ago the Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate had proposed of having ATKT system for students failing in two subjects both at SSC and HSSC levels to be implemented in the current academic year. But the decision whether it will be implemented in the current academic year or not is hanging fire.
The Goa Board met recently on this issue but no final decision was taken, sources said. Some queries were raised and as no complete information was made available, the decision was deferred. The sources said the Board will meet again soon to decide on the matter.
There seems to be no major objection to allow students to keep terms to students failing in two subjects as the same is allowed at college level. But the point of dispute is whether it is feasible to implement the decision during the current academic year. The Board being autonomous, is free to take any decision. Whether the Goa Board will go by the suggestion of the Education Minister is to be seen.
ADEIS: The government has planned to provide vehicles for the zonal ADEIs. Sources said this is in view of the difficulties faced by the officers to tour schools. Some have 50-60 schools under them.
