No decision yet on fielding candidate for RS polls: Vijai

PANJIM: Goa Forward Leader Vijai Sardesai on Sunday said that his party has not yet taken a decision on fielding of candidates for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

PANJIM: Goa Forward Leader Vijai Sardesai on Sunday said that his party has not yet taken a decision on fielding of candidates for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
“We have not thought on the Rajya Sabha candidates, we are a regional party. Our target is to take Goa “forward” and at the same time we are technically members of the NDA,” he told reporters after inaugurating a showroom in Panjim.
“Sudin Dhavalikar had said that since we did not fight elections together, they will be fielding a candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections but since we are together and had attended the NDA meeting, we cannot say like that. We have not reached a decision yet.
Asked whether GF will support the BJP candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Vijai said, “We have not decided on it yet.”
Meanwhile, the minister further said that GST is going to benefit the state. However, he said that there might be initial hiccups but in the long run, it shall benefit.
“This is landmark legislation. There will be initial hiccups but will certainly benefit in the long run in the interest of the country,” he added.
“GST is a legislation for which even the Congress has claimed credit. At the moment, the country is witnessing a spell of political stability and the political will to take bold decisions. Sometimes these decisions are not of immediate popularity but they are in the eventual interest of the country and GST is one such decision. It may not immediately have its benefits,” Vijai added.
