No forms rejected in Canacona

All the candidates, who have filed their nomination papers to contest the 10 wards of Canacona Municipal Council (CMC), have scored a perfect 100, as no forms were rejected on the day of scrutiny on Tuesday.
After taking out the second nomination paper sets, 46 candidates are eligible in the contesting list, subject to the withdrawals on Wednesday.
Ward 6 (Kindlebag), which has received a maximum of 11 nomination sets including three second set of forms, has maximum eight eligible contestants after the day of scrutiny.
Ward 1 (Nagarcem, reserved for Women) and Ward 3 (Mastimoll, reserved for ST) have minimum number of candidates of three in each ward.
According to sources in Returning Office, all the forms were found in order and there was no rejection or disqualification at the time of the forms scrutiny. After scrutiny, only one nomination form against each contestant is taken into consideration.
Ward-wise contestants are Ward 1, Nagarcem (3), Ward 2, Chaudi (7), Ward 3, Mastimoll (3), Ward 4, Ponsulem (4), Ward 5, Kindlem (5), Ward 6, Kindlebag (8), Ward 7, Patnem (4), Ward 8, Bhagatwada (4), Ward 9, Palolem-I (4) and Ward 10, Palolem-Devabhag (4).
Candidates who wish to withdraw from the contest will do so between 11am and 3 pm on Wednesday and all the contesting candidates will attend a meeting at 4 pm in Returning office.
“The voting symbols will be allotted in the meeting on Wednesday evening,” informed Returning office source.
