CANACONA: Canacona failed to receive fresh stocks of vegetables on Monday and the overnight stock became scarcity in Canacona municipal market on Tuesday.
Speaking to Herald, vegetable vendors at the municipal market informed that no fresh stock came on Tuesday and they were forced to sell the stocks they had received on Monday morning.
While many people avoided shopping for stale outstation vegetables, many consumers were seen frequenting the roadside vendors and many took home locally grown vegetables.
The demand for locally grown vegetables and fruits was such that a vendor exhausted a large sack of local chickoos within minutes, even before he reached near the market.
Customers surrounded him as soon as he alighted with chickoos from a private bus opposite the Corporation Bank.
