No full-time p’yat secy at Casarvarnem

PERNEM: Casarvarnem villagers are highly inconvenienced since the village panchayat does not have a full-time secretary. This has left the panchayat functioning in disarray, prompting concern over day to day activities.

In this scenario, the gram panchayat in Casarvarnem is functional only on three days of the week when the secretary and clerk are present at the panchayat. On the remaining days the secretary is allocated block level officer (BLO) duties, leaving crucial panchayat tasks unattended. Villagers seeking essential documents like income certificates, birth certificates, and ration certificates encounter frustration and are therefore unhappy.

Jitendra Gaonkar has demanded immediate action to rectify the chaos caused by the absence of the regular secretary, and other employees. Gaonkar, along with others, visited the panchayat office, and found that the sarpanch and secretary were absent the panchayat, causing dissatisfaction among locals and also the activists.

Gaonkar also blamed the lack of attention and care from the local MLA, suggesting that if the MLA fails to address the situation, he should reconsider his role, and urged the people of Pernem to take necessary action.

The issue is expected to be raised at the upcoming gram sabha scheduled for November 19.
