PANJIM: Married woman, whose spouse is a regular employee with the government department or its corporation /autonomous bodies, are excluded from availing the Griha Aadhar scheme. The State government has amended BJP’s flagship scheme wherein several thousand eligible women are given monthly dole of Rs 1,500.
“The Directorate of Women and Child Development has informed that the Griha Aadhar Scheme shall not be applicable for those married woman who or whose husband is employed in any of the entities of Government of Goa on regular basis (contract/daily wages are excluded) such as Government of Goa or its’ Corporation or Autonomous organization funded by State Government, Government of India or any other State Government or its Corporations/Autonomous bodies, Scheduled Banks but excluding Co-operative banks (subject to actual income in case of Co-operative Banks),” a statement issued on Tuesday states.
The government had last year announced that since it had fixed income limit of Rs 3 lakh for women to avail the benefit, every section took the benefit including government employees and as a result, they decided that women working in government, bank and corporate sector would not be entitled for the benefits. In the latest amendment, women having spouses in the government and autonomous/corporation are now exempted from the scheme.
In the fresh amendment, widow or a divorcee having gross income not exceeding Rs 3 lakh per annum will be eligible for availing the benefit. The previous cap for this category was at Rs 1.50 lakh per annum.
