The gram sabha also adopted a resolution opposing the move of the government to hold panchayat elections on political party lines.
Gram sabha members felt that the government move to hold the panchayat election on political lines will spell doom for democracy at the grass root level.
The annual budget was presented before the gram sabha who questioned the panchayat over the recovery of taxes which where about Rs 10 lakh less than the budgeted estimate of the financial year 2013-14.
The panchayat was advised to take sufficient measures to recover the accrued taxes.
Deliberating on illegal constructions, the members sought to know as to how the TCP could file an affidavit in the High Court stating that a multi-housing complex could be given permission based on a four-metre tarred road, when the Building Rules mandate the right of way (access) of minimum six metres. The biased view of the TCP was condemned unanimously and the panchayat was advised to question the TCP over their decision to approve the construction plan.
Members also condemned the move of the government to widen the road to 15 metres which involved demolition of houses, compound walls and religious structures.
Various constructions coming in the CRZ area were also highlighted and the panchayat was advised to enumerate these constructions and report the same to the authorities.
