PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday told the House that the government has no intention to grant any more offshore casino licences in the State.
“No more offshore casinos in the State. No intention to give any more,” Sawant said.
With opposition raising concern over the growing number of illegal casinos across all constituencies, the Chief Minister said that directions have been issued to crack down on all such illegal casinos including online casinos and shut it down permanently.
“Only legal casinos will be allowed to operate,” he said requesting MLAs to bring to his notice, if any casino is left without action. He also said that under the Sagarmala
project, upgradation of various jetties have been taken up for tourism purposes and it has nothing to do with cargo.
