PANJIM: With the former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar naming incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in an alleged mining scam worth Rs 1.44 lakh crores, Congress party is exploring the possibility of either filing a criminal complaint or to move Court seeking action against the latter by October 4.
Congress, the prime political opposition in the State, has also decided to take to the streets seeking the Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha’s intervention into the scam, which is currently been investigated by Lokayukta in a complaint filed by Goa Foundation.
Addressing media persons on Thursday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said that the party has decided to go aggressive against the government, exposing their illegalities and corruption. “Over last six-seven months we sympathized enough towards the ill health of Chief Minister. But his party and council of Ministers have repeatedly being saying that he is fine and running the administration,” he said.
“So now, no more sympathy… We will expose all the misdeeds of Chief Minister and his council of Ministers with proper evidences. Wherever required criminal cases would be filed and will also approach Court for justice,” Chodankar said adding ‘illegal mining lease renewals, settlement with SEZ promoters, renting of premises, formalin, etc will be challenged’.
Chodankar said that to start with, party is looking into the affidavit filed by former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar into the alleged illegal renewals of 88 mining leases, before Lokayutka, wherein he has alleged that “certain individuals” involved in the process of granting mining lease renewals were “left out” in the complaint. “Parsekar has named then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for going ahead with the lease renewals by renewing 15 leases against the legal advice,” he said.
