PANJIM: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Goa unit, on Tuesday said that there was no more vacancy for any MLA from the Opposition in the party.
Reacting to rumours that St Andre MLA Francis Silveira is planning to join BJP, the party’s State President Vinay Tendulkar said that the St Andre workers met him in this regard.
“The St Andre BJP karyakartas met me and said that the Congress MLA Frnacis Silveira was contacting them for his switch to BJP. But we have not been contacted by anyone till now,” he said.
Asked whether BJP is ready to take any opposition MLAs, he replied in a negative. “We are 17 and we have support of 6 MLAs. So, we are effectively 23 and are confident of stability for the next three years,” he said.
Further, he said, when the government is stable there is no need of welcoming any more MLAs.
