MARGAO: The Muslim community that is quite skeptical about governments plans to have the National Population Register has got yet another reason to question the intention of having this register.
The manual prepared by the government to prepare the National Population Register (NPR) has one major lacunae as it does not list any Muslim festivals in the important festivals enumerated on page 32 at Annexure V.
Festivals of the Sikh community, Hindus and Christians are listed but not a single festival of the Muslim community including the two Eids they celebrate very prominently every year.
The exercise to compile the National Population Register expected to start shortly in many States.
