CUNCOLIM:  The Cuncolim Industries Association has downplayed the need for setting up a COVID Care Centre at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate as he felt the situation has changed now.

Addressing media persons, Association President Abhay Keni explained that the Association had earlier made all the arrangements to set up a Centre for the factory workers and employees if any of them were found to be positive.

He added that the association had also identified a place, ie the IDC building hall for the same.  However, he pointed out that presently, with the government now allowing home quarantine for COVID positive people, the requirement for the same has diminished.

Further, he reiterated what the association had been saying earlier, about the drop in cases and he said that there was only COVID cases in the last week. However, he said if the need arises, they will make arrangements at the Verna COVID Care Centre.

It may be recalled that the High Court had recently disposed of a petition filed by a Cuncolim Municipal Councillor regarding the situation at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate and had directed the authorities to ensure that all SOPs are followed.
